Credit union IT managers nationwide are making wish lists, and they're not wishing for shiny red bikes with bells. Instead, many IT managers are hoping for the brightest of technologies-with bells and whistles. In contrast, some IT managers told The Credit Union Journal that their technology wish lists are topped by just the necessities that will keep their CUs running smoothly and moving forward. One even said he's getting nothing. Here's a sampling of what managers from CUs $75-million to $2-billion in assets will behave nicely for:
Intrusion Detection: "From a purely propeller-head standpoint, my hot button is network security," said Jerry Johnson, vice president of IT at $300-million March Community CU in Moreno Valley, Calif. Adam Lambert, IS coordinator at $100-million Palisades FCU in Pearl River, NY, added intrusion detection to his list, too. Packet filtering is at the top of Johnson's list. "I want to be able to see if traffic is legit and if it's running an HTTP packet," he said.
