Three creditors have filed an involuntary Chapter 7 bankruptcy petition against Laimbeer Packaging Co., the defunct Melvindale-based company owned by former Detroit Piston Bill Laimbeer.
Laimbeer began shutting down the corrugated-box business in December and said he would sell equipment, collect receivables and pay as many bills as he could. The petition was filed June 5 in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Detroit.
Creditor Al Gunter, president of Wyandotte-based Al's Mobile Service Inc., said a letter from Laimbeer's attorney stated there wasn't enough money to pay Laimbeer's primary lender, GE Capital Corp.
"I took it that anyone who had done business with him wasn't going to be paid," he said.
