COMPUCOM SYSTEMS INC. is turning to Safeguard Scientifics Inc. for some parental guidance.
As the company moves to become what it terms a "Total Solutions Provider," CompuCom plans to leverage its relationship with parent company Safeguard and its subsidiaries for crossselling opportunities, leads and service know-how.
CompuCom will tap some of Safeguard's partnership companies, such as US Interactive Inc. and Cambridge Technology Partners Inc., said Harry Wallaesa, president and chief operating officer of Wayne, Pa.based Safeguard and interim chief executive of CompuCom, Dallas.
"Because of our acquisition strategy, we have companies within the Safeguard partnership positioned within network infrastructure who can provide bandwidth in providing strategic consulting, E-commerce and other services," said Wallaesa. "What we will do in the short term is select a new [chief executive] and take advantage of the 250 companies in the partnership and leverage the Safeguard relationships and customer base," he said.
