I'm not a fan of Rudy Giuliani or Newt Gingrich. But in the past two weeks, Newt and Rudy have wisely spoken out on the future of the Republican Party, and if the GOP diehards don't listen, they're doomed to be a minority party for the next 10 to 20 years.
Gingrich, who still harbors presidential ambitions, thinks his party is tired and listless. He thinks the party should reinvent itself with new ideas and a vision the public can believe in. Giuliani, at a Midwest campaign stop, challenged the party to ignore his support of a woman's right to choose, consider allowing more acceptance of gay rights and understand his position on gun control, which he says is based on his experience as a big-city mayor.
