On the verge of watching one of its premier automobile lines drive off into the sunset, Clarksville mainstay Clapp Volkswagen-Oldsmobile has solidified its future by purchasing another Clarksville dealership, Slone Pontiac Buick GMC Truck Inc.
The company formed by the acquisition will be called Clapp Auto Group Inc.
A Daewoo and Suzuki dealership located at 2005 Ind. 62 in Jeffersonville and owned by Don Slone, the former owner of Slone Pontiac Buick GMC Truck Inc., was not included in the transaction.
Slone could not be reached for comment by Business First's press deadline.
Terms of the deal, which was closed on Sept. 4, were not disclosed. But a news release said the combined dealerships will have an inventory of more than $7 million in new and used vehicles and $1 million in parts.
