Plastic Surgeon's Observations Support Botox as Migraine Treatment
Physicians at Chapman Medical Center, Orange, have been studying a new deloxification process that flushes opiates from a patient's body during sleep.
According to the study, more than half of the patients treated with the rapid detoxification process were drug free a year afterwards.
The study was conducted with 150 patients who underwent the Rapidly Accelerated Opiatc Detoxification procedure. Afterone month, 77% of the patients were drug free, 64% ln remained drug free after three months and 57% after six months.
The patients were treated for addiction to a variety of opiates, including methadone, heroin and prescription drugs. The treatment lasts approximately six hours and requires about two days' stay in the hospital.
According to the study, the treatment is also effective for dealing with morphine, codeine, opium, vicodin and percodan.
Chapman Medical said it's the first facility in California to offer the treatment.
