Looking to create a new niche for itself, Memphis-based Carnevale, Inc., is introducing a line of furniture products it hopes will grow into a significant piece of its business.
Long known as a maker and distributor of upscale products for the gift shop industry like place mats and glassware, the company has introduced Carnevale Loft, a collection of occasional and contemporary furniture and accessories.
The line made its official debut at the trade shows in High Point, N.C., in April this year.
Co-founder Mike Moreau says the interest in the furniture line from the architecture and design communities was far greater than the company had expected.
Since the show in High Point, Carnevale has made more than 30 pieces of furniture for customers who saw its products there with about four to six custom orders coming in each day, says Stoughton Outlan, who oversees the furniture line's production at Carnevale.
