LOS ANGELES-BASED BELL INDUSTRIES INC. last week made a big move in its journey toward becoming a national reseller when it acquired First Step Computers, a large MicroAge Inc. franchise in Richmond, Va., creating a $278 million reseller organization.
The acquisition of First Step for undisclosed terms unites two large Apple Computer Inc. resellers and solidifies Bell Industries Computer Division's presence in the Midwest and Southeast.
Bell's flagship unit is Graham MicroAge in Indianapolis. A year and a half ago, Bell acquired another large Apple reseller, LMB Connecting Point, also based in Indianapolis.
