FORT WORTH - New brownfield legislation that increases funds for cleanup and removes some barriers to redeveloping brownfield sites is sparking interest in the Metroplex.
"It is another step in the night direction, but it is important to continue to realize that brownfield redevelopment is a complex issue," said John Slavich, a Dallas attorney who specializes in brownfield transactions for the firm of Guida, Slavich & Flores.
"As I've always told clients, these are real estate deals first and foremost," he said. "The real estate deal has to make sense. The environmental aspects add cost and time and some uncertainty to the process."
