A Situação Actual dos Estudos Chineses em Portugal

Abstract

Com o desenvolvimento económico da China, cada vez mais pessoas começam a aprender a língua e cultura chinesas em todo o mundo. O mesmo acontece em Portugal. Os Estudos Chineses possuem uma herança histórica profunda e têm apresentado uma evolução estável até aos dias de hoje. Este trabalho tenta incidir sobre os Estudos Chineses em Portugal, tanto numa perspetiva histórica a partir do século XVI, como na atualidade. Tenta ainda apresentar a Universidade do Minho como um exemplo de sucesso nesta área científica. Este meu ensaio visa dar uma visão geral da situação dos Estudos Chineses em Portugal, de modo a ajudar as pessoas a conhecer o que existe nesta área.

With the economic development of China, more and more people are starting to learn Chinese language and culture worldwide. Portugal is no exception. Chinese Studies have a deep historical heritage in this country, and has been developing steadily up until today. This research aims to provide an introduction of Chinese Studies’ history and current situation in Portugal. Furthermore, it presents University of Minho as a case of success in this field. This report tries to provide an overview of the situation of Chinese Studies in Portugal, aiming at helping people to further their knowledge about what has been made in this field of study in this country.
