Industries are important producers of liquid, solid and gaseous waste streams that require treatment before they can be discharged into the environment. The nature of industrial activities is highly diverse in terms of scale, raw materials processed, and products made. Consequently, the waste generated in the industrial production processes is of an enormous diversity in chemical composition, temperature, and volume. This book attempts to identify the waste that a number of important industries generate and the potential application of biotechnological methods for their treatment. Herewith, this is one of the first books that treats industrial waste treatment from this (industrial) point of view.
