Australia's Department of Defence yesterday said it plans to sign a memorandum of understanding with the U.S. Navy for the purchase of Raytheon (RTN) Mk 48 Mod 7 Advanced Capability (ADCAP) torpedoes to arm its Collins-class diesel attack submarines under a $279 million program.
"Defence will now sign a memorandum of understanding with the U.S. Navy to jointly develop, produce and support the torpedoes," Australian Defence Minister Robert Hill said in a statement.
