A South Bend company is positioned to support a turn to "green building" in commercial construction recently signaled by retailing giant Wal-Mart.
Inovateus Development is one of a few distributors of solar shingles that are among products Wal-Mart is using on its buildings to provide electricity in its store while cutting down petroleum use and its related pollution.
"That's going to be a very big business with global warming and our dependence on foreign oil," says Inovateus President Tom Kanczuzewski.
Inovateus is involved in a wide range of environmentally friendly construction, including homes with geothermal and solar energy. To help replace trees removed for its subdivisions, the company sponsors the annual Isaak Walton League tree giveaways.
