Top Fuel dragsters must weigh at least 2,330 pounds, including driver, and have a wheelbase of no more than 300 inches. From the front of the car to a point 12 inches behind the centerline of the front axle, the cars must maintain a minimum ground clearance of 3 inches; the rest of the car must have a 2-inch clearance. Maximum height of the rear wing is 90 inches from the ground.
CHASSIS: A Top Fuel chassis, which has a wheelbase of 280 to 300 inches, is made from more than 300 feet of 4130 chromoly tubing. Standard features include front spindles, a steering box, seat, floor pan, motor plates, rear-end plates, wing struts, fuel tank, brake handle and master cylinder, clutch pedal, fuel-shutoffand parachute-release levers, control cables, oil-overflow tank, and, in most cases, a body, a front wing, and a nosepiece.
BODY: Attached to the chassis with quick-release fasteners, the lightweight multipiece body and cowl are typically formed of metal, fiberglass, or carbon fiber/Kevlar, as are the nosepiece and front-wing assembly. No part of the front wing may be within 6 inches of the...
