It is not often that a company traces its decision to file for bankruptcy protection to a battle over a children's anime show.
4Kids Entertainment Inc. said April 6 that it filed a petition in bankruptcy for relief under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code. The petition, filed in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York, covers all of the domestic, wholly owned 4Kids subsidiaries, while the company's London-based subsidiary 4Kids Entertainment International Ltd. is not part of the filing.
