American Express Co. CFO Jeffrey Campbell said fourth-quarter 2017 results were stronger than anticipated, and time will tell what that means in terms of future guidance.
The company saw adjusted revenue growth accelerate to 9% in the quarter, with the highest growth seen in the U.S. consumer segment at 13%.
During a call to discuss quarterly earnings results, Campbell gave an optimistic outlook for 2018, pointing out that the company built its plan based on the economy before the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act was passed in December 2017.
