GREELEY--Fred Brown is so looking forward to his new job.
Brown, who spent 14 years as general manager for Garnsey and Wheeler Ford in Greeley and Spradley Barr Ford in Fort Collins, is program director for the new Aims Automotive and Technology Center set to open Jan. 11.
Giving a visitor a walking tour of the nearly complete $7.5 million, 45,000-square-foot facility, Brown happily points out the building's many energy-efficient features that will eventually gain it certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
"It will definitely be a LEED-certified building, although we're not yet sure where it will wash out," he said. "We're shooting for silver but it could be higher."
Only gold and platinum are higher than silver on the scale that recognizes environmentally friendly construction techniques.
But it's not just the energy-efficient design and construction of the facility that has Brown excited about the arrival of his first classes.
