The second major accounting firm merger in the Nashville area this year will occur Nov. 1 when local firm Grannis Whisenant & Associates PC combines with the local office of Horne CPA Group-of Jackson, Miss.
Horne's Nashville office is the firm's second largest and has 60 employees that serve industries ranging from health care to construction. Grannis Whisenant employs 10 people and its practice covers audit, tax and valuation services.
"We really look at it as a combination of strengths," says Lucy Carter, shareholder-in-charge of Horne's Nashville office.
The latest move, which creates the seventh-largest CPA firm in the area, follows the Sept. 1 merger of Brentwood-based Kruse & Associates with Indianapolis-based Crowe Chizek & Co.
