British propagandists in the United States during World War II faced a daunting task. They knew that Americans were aware of the rabid, hate-the-Hun propaganda used during World War I. That use of emotionally laden imagery had backfired during the period between the war when millions of Americans became convinced that they had been tricked into the war by British propaganda.
