The Victorian Web is a free explorative resource centered on British literature, art and society during Queen Victoria's reign (1837-1901), supplemented by comparative (e.g. the UK compared to countries outside the UK) and pre- and post- Victorian era material. As of June 19, 2017, the resource offers 93,907 images and primary and secondary sources through the lens of various disciplines, with approximately 5,000 of the documents translated into Spanish and a "small [unspecified] number" translated into French.
The credibility of the website's content is sound. While contributions to the resource can be made by anyone, submissions are vetted in a peer-review process - since 2010, submissions that do not come from the editorial board receive three or four readings (with the exception of book reviews). However, it is unclear what the peer review process was prior to 2010, and there are indeed articles available that pre-date 2010. In these cases, one method a discerning user can use to assess the quality of articles is to read the Bibliographies found at the end of articles.
