A 32-year-old man with psoriasis developed thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura while receiving ustekinumab [Stelara] during a clinical trial.
The man had been receiving ustekinumab monotherapy every 8-10 weeks for 2-3 years [route and dosage not stated] when he presented with a 1-week history of intermittent episodes of vomiting, and tea-coloured urine. His BP was 145/100mm Hg, and laboratory tests revealed the following values: haemoglobin 96 g/L; platelet count 35 × 10 9/L; and lactate dehydrogenase 637 U/L....
