It is an electronic source of information, a portal to myriad other electronic resources, a collaboration space, and more. The academic host of the THL, the University of Virginia, lends the Library considerable technical and intellectual support.
Primary navigation is by tabs at the top of the screen, which take users to the Home page and the seven other portals: Collections, Reference, Places, Literature, Community, Tools, and Projects. Search boxes on the Home page, Places portal, and Literature portal, are augmented by a Google site-search box on every page. A link to the THL Index is located adjacent to this search box, and presents users with a site index in a pop-up window.
