Tyndall et al. are senior managers of Ernst and Young and involved in the firm's global supply-chain management team. The book is explicitly directed toward the consultants' traditional customers: senior managers and executives in industry. Therefore the book serves the traditional demand customers direct toward their consultants, that is, to provide them with knowledge they need for their decision making in a quick, understandable, reliable way. The book serves this purpose; it is not a textbook nor a research report nor a reference but mainly a quick read for executives. In addition, the authors try to convince the reader of the importance and possibility of achieving new forms of operational excellence.
