A 35-year-old man developed cholestatic jaundice and bile cast nephropathy secondary to liver injury following an abuse of stanozolol, trenbolone acetate (trenbolone) and testosterone propionate for weight loss and muscle building [not all durations of treatments to reactions onset stated].
The man was admitted for progressive jaundice, vomiting, colicky abdominal pain and severe pruritus. Also, he had pale stools and dark urine. Twelve weeks prior to presentation, he started receiving a regimen of anabolic steroids comprised of IM stanozolol 100mg 3 times weekly, testosterone propionate 50mg 3 times weekly and trenbolone acetate 100mg 3 times weekly along with various dietary supplements. Five weeks prior to presentation, he reported yellowish skin discolouration and laboratory investigation revealed direct bilirubin of 6.13 mg/dL, total bilirubin of 8.4 mg/dL, aspartate aminotransferase of 139 U/L, alanine aminotransferase of 450 U/L, GGT of 187 mg/dL and alkaline phosphatase of...
