A 40-year-old woman developed central pontine myelinolysis (CPM) after hypernatraemia following an overdose of sodium bicarbonate.
The woman was under treatment for hypotension, altered mental status, metabolic acidosis and respiratory failure in ICU. She was treated with mechanical ventilatory support with oxygen supplementation and potassium chloride.
