SEABEES GET FIRST FEMALE MASTER CHIEF
Navy Master Chief Constructionman Carol Diane Keehner was frocked to pay-grade E-9 on April 21 becoming the Navy's first female Seabee master chief. Just seventeen years ago, she was one of the first seven women to join the Seabees.
Keehner tells how she joined the Navy as a joke, accompanying her husband to the recruiting station to help him search for a way out of dead-end farm and factory jobs.
