Scopus is the latest abstracting and indexing offering from Elsevier. This new product is similar to its predecessors, but has been significantly reengineered through the input of many librarians and others to allow for use that is more intuitive. For those who are familiar with Elsevier's products, the quality and layout will be no surprise. For those who are not, this new database will be a breath of fresh air. Scopus holdings number 14,000+ peer-reviewed titles from 4,000 publishers, making this database an even more attractive acquisition for academic libraries. Pricing was not available as of the date this review was written, but will be released after Scopus is unveiled sometime in November 2004.
The search options are the standard Basic (menu based with drop downs and boxes) and Advanced (commands). There are several searchable fields and document types that allow the user to easily narrow their search....
