PCHR
It is over 10 years since a model personal child health record (PCHR) for children up to the age of five years was launched. As part of Health for all Children 4 the PCHR was reviewed. HELEN BEDFORD, lecturer in children's health at the Institute of Child Health outlines the working party's recommendations
The ethos of the personal child health record (PCHR) was to encourage partnership with parents, improve communication between health professionals thus enhancing continuity of care and to increase parents' knowledge of their child's health and development.
The concept has proved extremely successful and most parents are now issued with a record for their child.
Review of the PCHR
