Ahorne going celebration was held in the chapel at Howard University. Dr. Anna B. Coles, a pioneer in the field of nursing recently passed away at the tender age of 90 years. She began her basic nursing educational path in 1945 at the Freedmen's Hospital School of Nursing. Many of the African-American nurses who passed through the Freedmen's Hospital (now, Howard University Hospital) and Howard University, in the last six decades, will have had some contact with Dr. Coles.
