`Paul Wilmott Introduces Quantitative Finance' is the latest addition to the author's trilogy in `Derivatives: The Theory and Practice of Financial Engineering', and `Paul Wilmott on Quantitative Finance'. Given the substantial overlap in topics covered in all of the author's three books - and in particular, in the latter two -- apart from the obvious commercial reasons, one can hardly understand the educational reasons and marginal value of three closely related textbooks by the same author, instead of a single all-inclusive one. Here, I was invited to review the introductory version which, as the author puts it, intends to serve as an accessible introduction to the classical side of quantitative finance specifically for university students.
