Abstract
Mother of Frankenstein, a two-act solo play, is a creative project, written in standard play format. It features the character of Mary Shelley, whose greatest novel, Frankenstein, is known by many. However, few know her personal story. The project and its accompanying descriptive pages examine the social and personal context under which Shelley created her literature.
In order to promote literary monodrama, a form that can easily be presented in secondary schools, techniques incorporated by playwrights of related works are also investigated. Such an examination will add support for the inclusion of the works of authors such as Mary Shelley in the curriculum of middle and high school English departments. Additionally it will demonstrate how the use of arts enriches a student's overall education.
