Irving B. Harris.

In late September 2004 the early childhood community lost a friend. Irving B. Harris, a Chicago businessman, was one of our field's most supportive benefactors. Since 1946 when he established a foundation to buy reading materials for children, Irving donated time, expertise, and money to start and support child development programs.
