Laura Nyro was an American singer, songwriter, and pianist, who sadly passed away from ovarian cancer on April 8, 1997. She played the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival. She put out numerous records starting in 1967 up until her death including many reissues for her legions of fans. She was mainly known as being a singer-songwriter; although, she never had a big pop single. What she was able to do was write some of pop's biggest records of her day, including Blood, Sweat and Tears' And When I Die, Barbra Streisand's Stoney End, Three Dog Night's Eli's Cornin', and The Fifth Dimension's Wedding Bell Blues and Stoned Soul Picnic, among...
