An 82-year-old man developed Oligella urethralis bacteraemia and recurrent urinary tract infection following levofloxacin treatment.
In November 2012, the man developed fever and haematuria and was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection. He started receiving oral levofloxacin 500 mg/day following which his fever promptly subsided. He received total 9 days of levofloxacin therapy. In early December 2012, he again developed fever and was diagnosed with a recurrent urinary tract infection. His oral levofloxacin therapy was recommenced.
