Abstract

The proliferation of cases of international child abduction by one parent or the other involved in family break-up, has forced the authorities of countries potentially involved and international organizations, to find «friendly settlements» by means of mediation, having «the best interests of the child» as its fundamental axis. The Hague Convention of October 25th/1980 is framed within the same scope, which pretends to create an international level structure, through which the judicial and administrative authorities of the countries involved, could collaborate in order to return the child, as soon as possible, to his/her previous to abduction habitual State of residence, and from which the child has been illegally abducted.
