Abstract
The new economy not only poses challenges, but also offers opportunities for Education sector. To meet the challenges and take the opportunities, Education Sector must take active initiatives to adopt new management tools, techniques and philosophies and adapt to its circumstance. Knowledge management is such an area that needs to be further explored and exploited for its full benefits to be reaped. Key issues, challenges, and opportunities of Knowledge Management in the Education sector need to be addressed and better understood.

Introduction
To advance the standards of all the educational institutions and to develop the performance of students in all faculties by which the growth of a nation can be viewed, innovative knowledge management is a must. Knowledge management refers to a variety of practices used by institutions to identify the higher levels of innovations in education. The sharing of knowledge in industry, colleges, universities and almost any institution means capturing the knowledge and allotting it for the betterment of Education Sector. By developing the knowledge management system, the nation's economy increases and can compete in the global scenario.
Be it Education Sector or any other Corporate Sector, focusing on the continual development of employee knowledge is an important step to take if they hope to stay competitive in the ever-changing global business environment. This becomes even more important for Education Sector as it is becoming global and it produces the future designers of the world. One successful way institutions can stay competitive is to help maintain a high level of knowledge and understanding among their faculty members and students. There is a growing consensus that the effective and productive management of knowledge is a critical factor for the success of an institution.
Knowledge is the most valuable strategic resource that requires renewal continuously. Yet not many Educational Institutes have started building their capacity to manage knowledge. It is important to build the knowledge-based institution and leverage knowledge to increase effectiveness and quality of education; in a nutshell to improve the performance of Education Sector.
