Cyberspace is the new meeting frontier to disseminate information. For nearly a decade, NIDEK Co Ltd (Gamagori, Japan) has provided articles to the Journal of Refractive Surgery readership in supplement form either through meeting proceedings or through active solicitation. This supplement represents the latter.
Cyberspace was the meeting venue this year with a multinational flavor much like previous meetings. Although the imagery may not be as grand as Phuket, Cancun, Rio, or Monaco, the papers published bridge the continents of Europe, North and South America, the Middle East, and the Far East. The articles were selected to address current topics of interest rather than having to wade through the plethora of internet information. A search for "refractive surgery" provides a torrent of information-some relevant and some arcane.
As an ophthalmologist in the United States, I am envious of my colleagues who continue to explore the presbyopic refractive surgery frontiers of pseudoaccommodative cornea with multifocal ablations.
