Abstract Chinese International Garden and Flower Expo (hereinafter referred to as Garden Expo) is an exhibition of garden arts and works of the largest scale, highest grade and richest contents in China, landscape design of its sites (garden expo parks) must be innovative. This paper analyzed original innovation, integrated innovation, and re-innovation based on introduction and digestion in the landscape design of Chongqing Garden Expo Park, and introduced the favorable landscape effect made by these innovations.

Innovation has already become a motivation for the development of all undertakings in China. The innovation-driven development strategies, and the innovation methods such as "original innovation, integrated innovation, and reinnovation based on introduction and digestion" are instructive for the innovation of landscape design. "Original innovation" can be read as inheritance-based innovation, and in landscape design, it is demonstrated as the innovation on the basis of inheriting traditional Chinese cultures; "integrated innovation" can be read as learningbased innovation, it is demonstrated in landscape design as the innovation based on learning from all relevant disciplines and specialties in the integration system; "re-innovation based on introduction and digestion" in landscape design is demonstrated as the innovation on the basis of learning from the finished projects of the same type.
Garden Expo is an international exhibition of commonweal founded by the Ministry of Construction (present Ministry of Housing and Urban-rural Development of the People's Republic of China), and also the expo of the highest grade and largest scale in China garden and flower industry. The expo aims at promoting urban landscaping and construction of ecological environment, improving investment environment, enhancing ecological environmental consciousness of people, and popularizing green civilization11'.
