Abstract

Family medicine: 4815 Internal medicine: 4795 General pediatrics: 4871 Obstetrics/gynecology: 6714 While it seems reasonable to compare NPs doing primary care to physicians doing primary care, it does not seem reasonable to compare an NP doing women's health care to an obstetrician, who performs surgery and deliveries. Practices often use RVUs rather than collections as a measure of productivity when the practice employs both primary care providers (PCPs) and specialists. Because specialists' fee schedule rates may be higher than PCPs' rates, specialists may generate more revenue.
