There has been a longstanding interest in the scholarly community in having as complete a set as possible of the letters, speeches, proclamations, and publications of Adolf Hitler. The collection brought together by Max Domarus was one of the earliest ones. In 1962-63 Domarus, an Archivdirektor in Wuerzburg, and a specialist in Bavarian regional history, published two large volumes entitled Hitler: Reden und Proklamationen, 1932-1945, kommentiert von einem deutsch,en Zeitgenossen.
