Futures and Options Markets: An Introduction By Colin A. Carter, Prentice Hall, 2003, 323 pp. Hardback $89.00
According to the author, this textbook is designed for an upper level undergraduate class in futures and options markets. The subject matter coverage, and extent to which terms and concepts are defined and explained indeed support this as an introductory text written for a more sophisticated audience. The text covers futures and options markets and includes defining terminology, the role of markets and futures markets, futures and options market mechanics, contract specifics and strategies. It has separate chapters devoted to agricultural commodities and financials and would be appropriate for classes focusing on either. The book also has chapters devoted to both fundamental and technical analysis.
The textbook flows logically. This is important because the subject is not easy to cover regardless of the order in which content is presented....
