In four volumes, Dits et ecrits gathers Michel Foucault's uncollected work published in periodicals, journals, and the popular press not only in France but throughout the world. Carefully researched, it brings together texts that have long been either unavailable or difficult to find, among them work that illuminates Foucault's other books. Dits et ecrits is an important resource to scholars of critical theory, and a must for any serious university library.
The dits of the title are for the most part interviews, but also include conference papers, question/answer sessions, and public statements. The interviews explore all areas and are conducted often with other philosophers such as Sartre and Deleuze. The ecrits include scholarly articles, commentary on Foucault's contemporaries, prefaces to books of all kinds, reviews of books, open letters, private letters later published, statements about and responses to other philosophers and sociologists.
