The American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters publishes text and study materials for the CPCU professional designation program. A recent revision of the CPCU program now calls for the completion of eight courses: five core courses and three additional courses in either personal risk management and insurance or commercial risk
management and insurance. Foundations of Risk Management and Insurance is the new text for the CPCU 510 gateway course in the core curriculum.
This text has the following stated goals:
* To provide CPCU candidates with a solid understanding of modern risk management principles. Modern risk management takes a somewhat broader, more holistic view than principles taught in traditional courses that tend to focus on insurable risks and insurance as the primary risk management technique.
