Florida State University (FSU) seeks a new Dean of the College of Law who will partner with the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and the College's faculty to lead the institution in its continued pursuit of academic excellence. The skills sought are visionary and collaborative leadership coupled with strong administrative and interpersonal skills. The College of Law works closely with FSU's other colleges and the University's senior administration to advance the University's academic mission and Florida State's goal of being a "Top 25" ranked public university.

The College of Law's academic programs and faculty are among the best in the nation. The law faculty delivers a sophisticated program of study that prepares students to enter the worlds of law, business and government at the highest level. U.S. News & World Report (2015) ranks the College of Law as the 50th best law school in the nation. Florida State's environmental program is ranked as the nation's 17th best. In 2014, readers of the influential Brian Leiter's Law School Reports blog voted the faculty the nation's 35th best. National Jurist magazine consistently ranks the school as one of the nation's top "Best Value" law schools, based on employment rate, bar passage, tuition, and student indebtedness. Additionally, Hispanic Business magazine (2014) ranked the law school as the nation's number two law school for Hispanics.
The College of Law has been active in meeting the needs of the changing legal market and in affording students access to a wide array of classroom and outside-the-classroom education.
