Abstract
A Mobile Ad hoc NETwork (MANET) is an infrastructure less, autonomous, and standalone wireless network. The vision of mobile ad hoc network is to support robust and efficient operation in mobile wireless networks by incorporating routing functionality into mobile nodes. A mobile ad hoc network is the collection of nodes which form the temporary network without the centralized body due to constant changes in network topology. Each node in a MANET serves as a router and performs mobility functionalities in an autonomous manner. Guaranteeing delivery and the capability to handle dynamic connectivity are the most important issues for routing protocols in mobile ad hoc networks. A number of routing protocols[l] have been proposed for this purpose like Ad Hoc On Demand Distance Vector (AODV)[2], Dynamic Source Routing (DSR)[2] and Destination-Sequenced Distance Vector (DSDV) [3]. In this paper the Proactive Protocol DSDV were studied and their characteristics with respect to broadcast mechanisms.

l.Introduction
The previous studies have also revealed that conventional probabilistic flooding [4] frequently does not achieve a high degree of reachability partly because each node in the network has the same probability of rebroadcastingregardless of the number of neighbours. This paper investigates the performance of new probabilistic flooding algorithms where the rebroadcast probability value at a node is adjusted based on the type of network such as sparse network and dense network. The new algorithm has been implemented in the DSDV routing protocol and has been referred to as Flooding Reduced-Destination Sequenced Distance Vector protocol. The overhead realized in DSDV protocol is due to the periodic and triggered timer route updates which flood in the network very often with a route update packet of different sizes. In addition to that the performance of the DSDV in terms of throughput is also poor in high mobility. Hence, it is considered to improve the performance of the DSDV protocol with respect to MAC load, routing load, throughput, and power consumption by implementing the proposed method namely Flooding Reduced-Destination Sequenced Distance Vector Routing Protocol (FR-DSDV).
2. Broadcasting in MANET Routing Protocols
In both wired and wireless networks, blind or simple flooding is one of the broadcasting mechanisms, where each node in the network rebroadcasts a message to its neighbors...
