Abstract
The Hispanic or Latino(a) population now comprises 12.5% of the population of the United States and Spanish is the most common language spoken other than English.1 In order to better serve the health care needs of the US population, pharmacists and pharmacy systems should reflect more cultural and linguistic competence.2 The second edition of Essential Spanish for Pharmacists can help pharmacy personnel working in the community setting to use basic phrases for communicating with Spanishspeaking patients about medication.
