Abstract
Presented at the 92nd Annual Meeting of the North Pacific Surgical Association, Vancouver, British Columbia, November 11-12, 2005 This year, when it came to the selection of a prominent surgeon from Victoria who was one of the founding members of our society we had no difficulty in choosing Dr. Oswald Meredith Jones as someone who should be so honored. Within a couple of years Dr. Jones had established a large general and surgical practice and he and Dr. Davie decided to go their separate ways in practice, although they remained good friends. [...]this time, there was no specialized medical practice in Victoria, but in January of 1893 the Jubilee Hospital records mention the appointment of Dr. Jones to the position of Ophthalmic Surgeon [2].
