The English language is one of the most popular languages to learn, perhaps the most spoken language around the world is English, and many people choose to learn the language simply to place them in a better position to secure work, or communicate more effectively with more people from around the globe. English as a second language has become more and more essential over the millenniums. The world is adopting it as its immediate form of communication. If one is a traveler then one must know that his /her knowledge of this language is as important as one's passport. However, learning English is not as simple as filling up a form at the Department of Home Affairs for the passport. The difficulties are heightened for those learning English as a second language. Kids pick up their native language or the mother tongue as they go through their stages of infancy. But many children begin being introduced to the English language (as English is being introduced after fifth class in govt. schools in many Indian states) years after they have started speaking. There are various difficulties when it comes to learning English as a second language.
Learning English as a Second Language - the Difference between native Language and English
There is a definite distinction between English and other vernacular languages. An example for this is the difference between English and Chinese/Mandarin. The absence of alphabets in the Chinese language is a major problem. This is because English words are made up of a compilation of alphabets. This is one of the few the reasons why it is difficult for Chinese native speakers to easily grasp the English language.
The Lack of Practice at Home
With a significant number of illiterate parents, children are still facing difficulties when it comes to learning. One of challenges that various volunteers have noticed is that children who were able to receive help at home as well as in school excelled as compared to those who didn't.
Unqualified Teachers
