The first edition of this publication was in 2001 and many would think that little could have happened in the world of entomology to require a second one. The authors state in the foreword that in the ten years that have passed there has been a revolution in the relative social importance of entomology within tertiary education and significant change in all aspects and sub-disciplines of the subject. There have been considerable additions from the internet, with a suggestion that the expansion of literature used within the subject is most notable there.
