1. Introduction
At the World Economic Forum, Schwab (2016) (World Economic Forum) mentioned physical technologies [three-dimensional (3D) digital design, 3D printing, etc.], digital technologies and biological technologies (genetic engineering, etc.) as innovations leading to the new era of Industry 4.0. One of the key elements underpinning these intelligent innovations is software, and the use of system integration (SI) is required to integrate and manage large, complex software applications. SI involves combination of various computing systems and software packages to create a larger system, and this is what drives Industry 4.0 to work at its optimum. To accomplish this, the SI industry needs both a strategy to cope with future changes and an indicator management system that allows every SI company to verify the appropriateness of their quality-related indicators. With growing technology changes, the importance of SI is increasing. It is common for more software programs to be added to operations – each offering unique and practical services.
Many previous studies have been performed on both the quality of software and SI. In the Republic of Korea, the Software Industry Division of the Ministry of Science and ICT (formerly the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning) announced a set of detailed standards and procedures for software quality certification to assist in software quality management. Furthermore, Korean companies are currently acquiring certifications from the International Standardization Organization (ISO) as quality indices. Still, SI quality is a diagnosis of the quality activities in all stages of the SI project. However, it has been discovered that both the foundations and the implementations of companies’ quality management programs in SI implementation are still insufficient because product-oriented quality management is the top priority of managers (Quality Management Basic Plan No. 2005–27, 2005). So, the innovative trends need to be created, and the knowledge about emerging trends is also important for quality professionals who strive for excellence (Wawak et al., 2020).
This study aims to establish a strategy that reflects quality performance measures for assessment in both the SI implementation and in SI quality evaluation. The results contribute to the quality improvement methods by ensuring that software companies’ already-existing software-related quality assessment methods and those that are being replaced by certificates are properly reflected of the COQ perspective. To establish...
